There are several arguments as I research the internet for weight loss with respect to how fast should I lose weight. The fact is there is really no right answer that fits every scenario. There are however a few key characteristics that can help you decide what is right for you.
There is a certain type of person that needs instant gratification in order to stay true to a particular cause. I find that I might be also part of this group. In my experience it was easier for me to stay on a diet if everyday I was able to watch the scale losing 1 pound or even every other day losing 1 pound. Additionally I like the way that my clothes begin to fit even before the scale actually told the story. If this is you then diets that are more strict and regimented will probably work better for you.
Much like getting over food addictions, rapid weight loss and crash dieting have it’s down side. One of those is rapid weight gain after rapid weight loss. The best way that I know to cut back these faults is to have a plan for eating and exercising already in hand before you even begin your crash weight loss program or protocol. This will enable you as you draw closer to your target for goal weight to actually stay inside you’re given weight parameters. The trick here is to always be cognizant of how much weight you’re losing or gaining. You will want to weigh yourself at least twice a week and adjust your food intake and exercise accordingly.
On the flip side of weight loss is gradual weight loss over the course of
several months. Some people do very well losing 6 to 12 pounds each month. These people tend to give up smaller portions of the things that they really enjoy like sweets and fried foods as opposed to go cold turkey and give up all of them. If this is you then you know what it is like too have what we call a cheat day or a day or meal that you really enjoy twice a week so that you can still lose weight the other 5 days. In England this has been a common practice sense the early 70’s. There are able to maintain their proper body mass is to have days where they have especially low caloric intake while other days they basically eat whatever they want.
Scientists have been studying this process of fasting several days a week while eating normally the other days. It does work for some people however not everyone has the ability too portion control or control calorie intake on days when they are not actually counting calories or watching their food intake. This is certainly not a free for all on the days that you eat normally. Simply put you must eat normal. Yes, you may be able to enjoy a dessert after dinner as long as you didn’t eat a dozen donuts for breakfast and four grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Get the idea.
In short, the way that you lose weight and the way that I lose weight
may not be the same. No to diet protocols work exactly the same for two different people. You know your personality type and I think that is this single determining factor as to how fast you should lose weight . I will offer this last piece of advice up to you if you are considering any weight loss solution it is advisable that you mentally prepare yourself regardless of what mechanism, pill protocol, or eating plan you decide on. All diets require some form of abstinence in food intake. Don’t be discouraged if the one that you try does not work. There is a diet for you that will help you lose weight out there. No matter what your situation is, it may require a customization or hybrid if you will of a combination of eating plans or exercise regiment
